Victorian Premier John Brumby says he is prepared to put 30 per cent of GST revenues
into a funding pool that would be controlled by the states.
That "positive compromise" had the backing of WA and NSW, he told reporters before
heading into the meeting.
"It's a way of taking this debate forward, it's an effort to break the divisions."
Mr Rudd would need to "shift a bit of ground" to ensure a deal could be met, Mr Brumby said.
"It would be nice to get this wrapped up today if we can."
